Dopamine the D in DOSE

Over the last few months I’ve been using products that increase the levels of Dopamine, Oxycontin, Serotonin and Endorphins in the brain. I find all this very fascinating to think you can actually stack the deck in our favor, so to speak, to producer a happier you! Science! Gotta love it!

I am going to share with you what I learn about each one of these life changing chemicals in the brain.

So, in this article we are going to talk about “D” in DOSE, Dopamine.

Dopamine is a neurotransmitter, a chemical responsible for sending signals between the brain and other nerve cells throughout the body. It’s also responsible for many brain functions like, memory, sleep, mood, pleasure, behavior and cognition.

This chemicals most common medical use is improving the hearts ability to pump and improve blood flow to the kidneys. Dopamine is also used to treat certain conditions when you are in shook due to heart attack, trauma or trauma surgery, heart failure, kidney failure or any other serious medical condition.

This nalso communicates with the front part of the brain that feels pleasure or reward. It can also improve your sleep and mood.

How do you know you have a Dopamine deficiency?

Some signs that you may have a  deficiency include, depression, you’re in ability to handle stressful situations, fatigue, mood swings, failure to complete tasks and forgetfulness are a few.

By improving your diet, you can boost your level of Dopamine. Dairy products a re good source such as, milk, cheese, and yogurt. Unprocessed meat is another great source such as beef, turkey, chicken, Omega-3 rich fish (salmon). Fruits, vegetables and other natural sources can also provide dopamine, bananas, almonds, walnuts and dark chocolate.

Caffeine is also a source of Dopamine

Caffeine enhances the efficiency of this chemical by increasing the efficiency of the neurotransmitters reception.

So that pretty much gives us the “inside scoop” on dopamine and what we can do to increase levels and performance!
